Independent music media from Indonesia — reporting, reviews, and a permanent record of a scene that deserves one.
Katamusikku started from a simple frustration: Indonesian music was being covered as a feed of announcements, and then forgotten. A release would surface for a week and disappear. There was no reliable place to look up what a band had put out, who produced it, or where they were playing next.
So we built a newsroom on top of a catalogue. Every artist, release, song and event here is a real entry with its own page — not a tag on an article. Coverage links to the record; the record outlives the coverage. It means a review from two years ago still sits next to the album it reviewed, and an artist page still answers the question you actually came with.
We are independent and we sell advertising. Both of those are true, and the way we keep them from colliding is written down below and enforced in the product, not just the policy.
News, interviews and features on the artists, labels and venues that make up the scene — written by people who are in the room.
ReviewsConsidered, scored reviews of releases. The score is editorial, arrived at by the writer, and never for sale.
The recordArtists, releases, songs and events kept as first-class entries with their own pages — a catalogue that outlives the news cycle.
StoriesLyric Stories, Behind The Beat and Music Facts: the context behind the songs, for readers who want more than a release date.
Sponsored articles carry a disclosure naming the sponsor, everywhere they appear — in feeds, in search, on the page itself. Paid content is excluded from trending.
Review scores live with the review, never with a campaign. No advertiser sees a score before publication, and none has ever changed one.
When we get something wrong we fix it on the page and say what changed. Every edit to a published story is kept in its revision history.
Any artist or label can claim a profile, correct their own metadata, or send us a release through the submission queue.
